Comprehensive Psychological Needs & EMDR Suitability Assessment — £120

Before beginning EMDR or another course of psychological therapy, a comprehensive assessment is undertaken to develop an understanding of your current difficulties, relevant history, psychological needs and treatment goals. The assessment also considers whether EMDR is an appropriate therapeutic approach for your individual circumstances.

If EMDR is not considered the most suitable approach for your needs, alternative therapeutic options or recommendations will be discussed with you where appropriate.

The £120 fee is for the comprehensive psychological assessment itself and is not dependent upon subsequently proceeding with EMDR treatment. Once the substantive assessment has been completed, this fee is not refunded on the basis that EMDR is not subsequently recommended, that another therapy is recommended instead, or that you choose not to proceed. This is separate from cancelling or rescheduling the appointment itself before it takes place, which is addressed in section 1 below.

Payments, Cancellations, Rescheduling & Refunds

This section sets out the practice's contractual position. It is drafted to work alongside, not override, your statutory consumer rights, and to avoid retaining more than can be lawfully justified.

1. Comprehensive Psychological Needs & EMDR Suitability Assessment

Cancelling or rescheduling before the appointment: with at least 48 hours' notice, you may cancel or reschedule your assessment appointment without a contractual cancellation charge. With less than 48 hours' notice, or if you do not attend, up to the full £120 fee may be payable, subject to applicable consumer law and the practice's actual recoverable loss. This isn't an automatic penalty: Farishta retains discretion to take exceptional circumstances into account.

Once the assessment has taken place: the £120 fee is not refunded on the basis that EMDR is subsequently considered unsuitable, that another therapy is recommended instead, or that you choose not to proceed with treatment: the fee is for the completed assessment itself. This is a separate position from the pre-appointment cancellation terms above, and both are subject to any statutory rights applicable before or during provision of the service (see section 9).

2. Individual EMDR Appointments

Individual EMDR Therapy (60-minute, £120) and Extended Individual EMDR Therapy (90-minute, £170) appointments are not subject to the Intensive cancellation bands below. With at least 48 hours' notice, you may cancel or reschedule an appointment without a contractual cancellation charge. With less than 48 hours' notice, or for non-attendance, up to the full appointment fee may be payable, subject to applicable consumer law and the practice's actual recoverable loss. This isn't an automatic penalty applied without judgement: Farishta retains discretion to take exceptional circumstances into account.

3. EMDR Intensive Booking Payments

EMDR Intensives are not purchased directly. Following assessment and agreement on clinical suitability, format and dates, a 50% booking payment secures the agreed dates:

Total50% booking paymentRemaining balance
2-Day Intensive£1,050£525£525
3-Day Intensive£1,550£775£775
5-Day Intensive£2,250£1,125£1,125

4. Intensive Balance Payments

The remaining 50% balance is due: for a 2-Day Intensive, 7 working days before the first day of the Intensive; for a 3-Day or 5-Day Intensive, 14 calendar days before the first day. "Working day" means Monday to Friday, excluding bank and public holidays in England.

5. Cancelling an EMDR Intensive

The bands below describe the practice's contractual cancellation framework. Any amount ultimately retained or charged will not exceed what can be lawfully recovered, taking account of work already undertaken, clinical time reserved, the practice's actual direct loss, whether the reserved time can reasonably be reallocated, the duty to mitigate loss, and your applicable statutory consumer rights.

2-Day EMDR Intensive

  • 7+ working days before: Early cancellation. Payments are refundable, subject to applicable statutory rights and any lawful deductions genuinely applicable.
  • 4–6 working days before: Late cancellation. Up to 50% of the Intensive fee may be retained/charged, subject to applicable consumer law and the practice's genuine direct loss.
  • 3 working days or fewer: Very late cancellation. Up to the full Intensive fee may become payable, subject to applicable consumer law, mitigation and the practice's genuine direct loss.

3-Day and 5-Day EMDR Intensive

  • 14+ calendar days before: Early cancellation. Payments are refundable, subject to applicable statutory rights and any lawful deductions genuinely applicable.
  • 7–13 calendar days before: Late cancellation. Up to 50% of the Intensive fee may be retained/charged, subject to applicable consumer law and the practice's genuine direct loss.
  • 6 calendar days or fewer: Very late cancellation. Up to the full Intensive fee may become payable, subject to applicable consumer law, mitigation and the practice's genuine direct loss.

An EMDR Intensive requires a substantial block of consecutive clinical time reserved specifically for one client. Late cancellation may leave insufficient time to offer that time to another client. This policy exists to manage reserved clinical time fairly, not to penalise clients for cancelling.

6. Rescheduling / Transferring an Intensive

Each Intensive booking may be transferred to alternative dates once, subject to availability and sufficient notice (7+ working days for a 2-Day Intensive; 14+ calendar days for a 3-Day or 5-Day Intensive). Your existing booking payment transfers to the newly agreed dates, and no second booking payment is required solely because of the transfer. New dates must be mutually agreed and are subject to availability. The rescheduled Intensive should normally take place within six months of the original start date, subject to availability. If there has been a significant change in your circumstances or clinical presentation before the rescheduled Intensive, Farishta may review whether the agreed treatment plan remains clinically appropriate before treatment proceeds. This does not automatically require or charge for another full £120 assessment simply because the Intensive was transferred. After a booking has been transferred once, a further request to change or cancel is governed by the cancellation terms applying to the rescheduled dates.

7. Intensive Treatment Already Commenced

Fees for services already supplied remain payable. If an Intensive cannot continue once it has started, the position regarding remaining treatment and payment depends on why treatment stopped, the services already supplied, these terms, and applicable statutory consumer rights. The full remaining fee is not automatically forfeited in every circumstance.

8. Cancellation by Farishta

If Farishta is unable to provide an agreed Intensive, suitable alternative dates will be offered where appropriate. Where alternative dates cannot reasonably be agreed, amounts relating to clinical services that cannot be provided will be refunded. A booking payment is not retained where Farishta is responsible for treatment not proceeding. If you are travelling from further afield, you may wish to consider refundable or flexible travel and accommodation arrangements, since consequential costs of this kind are not automatically covered.

9. Statutory Consumer Cancellation Rights

These cancellation and rescheduling terms are in addition to, and do not affect, your statutory consumer rights, including those under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 for eligible distance or off-premises service contracts, where applicable.

10. Services Beginning Within the Statutory Cancellation Period

Where an eligible contract carries a statutory 14-day cancellation period, and you ask for services to begin during that period, the practice will need to obtain your express request for this on a durable medium before treatment begins. This will not rely on a pre-ticked box. If services have already been supplied at your express request and you subsequently exercise an applicable cancellation right, a proportionate amount for services already supplied may be payable, as permitted by law. The right does not disappear merely because treatment has started, except where full performance within the period and the required acknowledgement have genuinely been satisfied.

11. Refund Processing

Where a refund is due, it will normally be processed back to your original payment method within 5–10 working days. Your bank or payment provider may take additional time beyond this to show the refunded funds in your account. This further delay is outside the practice's control, and no specific timeframe for the receiving bank's own processing can be guaranteed.

Stripe payment links for Intensives
No public checkout for Intensive booking or balance payments currently exists. The £120 Assessment Stripe link is unaffected by this section. Private payment links for the booking-payment and balance amounts above will be created only once approved separately.
