EMDR Intensive Therapy Birmingham
Clinically led EMDR Intensive programmes for adults ready for concentrated trauma-focused work, delivered in Birmingham, with online available only where an intensive can genuinely and safely be delivered that way. Suitability is assessed first; programme length is agreed clinically, not chosen from a menu.
An EMDR Intensive Programme follows a structured and carefully contained format to support safe and effective trauma processing. It includes a pre-intensive assessment, preparation and stabilisation, followed by a focused block of extended EMDR sessions delivered over consecutive days.
Who EMDR Intensives May Suit

Professionals with limited weekly availability
Individuals seeking therapeutic continuity
Structure of an EMDR Intensive Programme
- Pre-intensive assessmentThe Comprehensive Psychological Needs & EMDR Suitability Assessment, required before any intensive is agreed.
- Preparation and stabilisationGrounding and emotional-regulation capacity established before extended processing begins.
- Structured intensive clinical workA mix of preparation, EMDR processing where appropriate, planned breaks, pacing and daily review, rather than continuous, uninterrupted processing.
- 60-minute post-intensive integration/follow-up sessionTo review the intensive work, discuss your experience since treatment, support integration, and consider appropriate next steps, not automatically another processing session.
Each intensive day is structured around what's clinically appropriate, not a fixed script. It's not three or more hours of uninterrupted memory processing either. Time is built in for preparation, regulation, breaks and review alongside the processing work itself.

Booking Your Intensive
Intensives aren't purchased directly: dates and format are agreed clinically after assessment, and payment links are shared privately once that's confirmed.
Need to Change Your Intensive Dates?
2-Day Intensive
3-Day & 5-Day Intensives
Each booking may be transferred once, normally to dates within six months of the original start date, subject to availability. If your circumstances or clinical presentation have changed significantly in the meantime, this will be reviewed before the rescheduled Intensive proceeds. This does not automatically mean booking and paying for another full assessment. After a booking has been transferred, a further change or cancellation is governed by the cancellation terms applying to the new dates. See Cancellation, Rescheduling & Refund Terms for the full position, including what happens with less notice than shown here.

Which EMDR Intensive Is Right for Me?
You're not expected to decide this alone. The appropriate length of an EMDR Intensive is determined collaboratively following your Comprehensive Psychological Needs & EMDR Suitability Assessment. Factors such as the nature and complexity of the difficulties you'd like to address, your treatment goals, previous therapy, current circumstances, readiness for intensive trauma-focused work, and the clinical formulation all help inform the recommended format.
A longer intensive is not automatically better. The aim is to recommend the level and structure of treatment that's clinically appropriate for you, not the largest package available.
Intensive EMDR vs Weekly EMDR
An intensive is a different format of delivery, not a superior treatment. Weekly EMDR remains the more appropriate choice for many people: it suits those who prefer gradual pacing, or whose circumstances make a concentrated block impractical. An intensive format may be considered where clinically appropriate for clients who may benefit from longer, concentrated periods of therapeutic work without the repeated stopping and restarting that shorter weekly sessions can involve. Neither is disparaged here: see Weekly EMDR vs EMDR Intensives for a fuller comparison.
What the Evidence Says
EMDR's evidence base as a treatment for PTSD is well established and reflected in NICE guidance. The evidence specifically concerning intensive delivery formats (concentrated sessions over consecutive days rather than weekly) is more limited and still developing, though early research and clinical experience are encouraging for appropriately selected clients. This practice doesn't present intensive EMDR as having an evidence base as broad as standard weekly delivery; it's offered as a legitimate, clinically supervised alternative format, not a shortcut to faster or superior results.
Start With an Assessment
Rather than offering a wide range of therapy modalities, clinical work over the past 14 years has centred primarily on EMDR and trauma processing.
