Before beginning EMDR or another course of psychological therapy, a comprehensive assessment is undertaken to understand your current difficulties, relevant history, psychological needs and treatment goals, and to consider whether EMDR is the right approach for you.

- Your presenting psychological difficulties, current symptoms and concerns
- Relevant history and previous therapy or treatment, where relevant
- Your current circumstances and treatment goals
- Relevant risk and safeguarding considerations
- Factors that may affect treatment planning
- Your suitability and readiness for trauma-focused work, including potential suitability for EMDR
- Appropriate therapeutic options and next steps

EMDR Is One Possible Recommendation
This practice specialises in EMDR and trauma therapy. That doesn't mean EMDR is assumed to be right for everyone who books an assessment. The sequence is: understand your situation, assess your psychological needs, and then agree the most appropriate therapeutic pathway together, which may be EMDR, or may be something else. If EMDR isn't considered the most suitable approach, alternative options are discussed with you.

A 50% deposit secures a booking, with the balance due 14 days before the start date. Bookings may be rescheduled with 14 days' notice.
About the £120 fee
The £120 fee is for the comprehensive psychological assessment itself, and is not dependent upon subsequently proceeding with EMDR treatment. You are booking a substantive professional assessment, not a screening call, and not a step that is only "worth it" if you go on to have EMDR.
